“Earth without art is just Eh!”

“Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen.”
-Leonardo da Vinci

Hello everyone!

As you know, this is the first post of the blog on my new website.  For those of you who don’t know, I am Riya Jaggi and I like to draw and paint.  (If you want to know more about me, then please check out ‘About Me’ page).  As a simple start, today, I would just like to talk about art.

Art is the ability to express oneself, typically in a visual or auditory form.  It allows one to express their creativity, imagination, emotions, and thoughts.  Nothing is more powerful than art….Feelings and passions expressed through art can change a person, thought or even the complete world.

Art wasn’t something that was invented or discovered by someone but had always persisted in this world since the birth of man.  People had been creating, describing, advertising, criticising and enjoying it in the past and will continue to do so in the future.  Life without art is impossible to imagine, just like the saying “Earth without art is just Eh!”.  The painting hanging in the living room, the handcrafted pots, dotted bedsheets, graffiti on street walls, the symphony of instruments and the gigantic skyscrapers are just a few of the many instances of art we savor.

What is more fascinating is the fact that every single person in the world, old or young, girl or a boy, has an art yet most of them don’t know what it is.  And as bizarre as it can be, art has different meanings for different people.  For some, art is the expression of thought through writing, for others through painting and even through poetry for many.  Some may even wish to showcase themselves by singing, playing instruments or dancing to some tunes but, whatever might be the form, art definitely provides a passage for our pent-up feelings to flow.

So, what does art mean to you?  How do you express yourself?  Whatever you believe, feel free to share your thoughts…. (comment below)
